Pencil Cedar is similar like Okoume, but pencil cedar face veneer are normally rotary cut whole piece of face veneer ,no plain slice to be used for fancy plywood.
When inspect pencil cedar plywood, you can use the okoume plywood inspection checklist and grading rules, also can use tropical red hardwood plywood grading rules.
Pencil Cedar is a high quality hardwood. Due to its ease of working, uniform color, fine texture and finishing characteristics, it is highly favored for prestige cabinet work and custom-made furniture, where it has been marketed successfully as ‘royal cherry’.
Pencil Cedar is highly regarded for quality furniture and cabinet work as well as for premium mouldings. It has been long recognized as a prime face material for plywood.
Ideally suitable for high quality joinery including window and door, frames, louver blades, shutters, interior wall linings, mouldings and turning; and as a domestic flooring material. Also suitable for a number of boat-building applications including masts, spars and interior fit-outs.
